  Bought a VT Castings Defiant with the bells and whistles - warming racks, ceramic pipe, etc. Prices were competitive. Installation was an ordeal. I waited around at home three times for installation only to have to call them to find out where the installers were - to find out they were not coming. After asking for my deposit back and canceling the order did someone get out to do the install. Stove works great, as expected and is the primary heat source for my house. Had an incident several months after the installation where the lows were expected to be below zero. The ceramic stove pipe started leaking smoke around the seams. That's not a huge deal as the stove has been working hard, but it's also a reason I paid for installation so that the work would be guaranteed. When I called to ask them to fix it, there were "no trucks that they had that could make it up there to fix it." Granted, it was pretty crummy weather with a touch of ice in the morning. However, for context, the very same day UPS came out for a delivery in their big box trucks... When I asked when someone *could* come out, the person I talked to said they had "no idea" and they did not seem to have any interest in figuring out a way to get out there or speculating when. The suggestion was for me to fix it myself. Since it was 20 degrees out and getting colder, that's what I needed to do - head to town to the hardware store. Now my nice VT Castings with ceramic pipe looks like a guy who never does this work, worked on it ;) My realtor recommended them to me, and I suppose if they are your only choice, you can get something to keep you warm. However, based upon my installation and service experience, I can't recommend this vendor.
